Hey everyone, if anyone has some advice on what the problem might be and how to fix it I'd love to hear from you.

I have a Modular G2 with the expansion board. I'm not sure what happened to it but one day it start cutting out. You'd play it for a minute and then the output would just stop. Absolutely nothing else will come out, if I hit patch load and just reload the same patch I get the output back until it cuts out again. Would this suggest there's a software issue?

Since this has started happening the overall output level of the g2 has been much lower than it was too.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance
keith

no real help I'm affraid..

And I even have to throw in some formalisms .. this is not a FAQ item as this is the first time ever I saw this problem, so I moved the post to the general discussion section ... secondly you double posted which is a no-no ... I'm going to lock that other thread after posting a link to this one.

Did you try to remove the expansion?

It's the only experiment I can think of that's both easily performed and still zooming into the problem a bit.

Ah yes, my apologies... I wasn't sure where the best place for it was. Thanks for your help! I'm going to remove the expansion right now.

Strange - simply reloading the patch causes the sound to return. That suggests to me that maybe something external is changing the volume of the patch. When the output stops, have you looked at the patch level parameter to see if it has been changed? Do you have the MIDI In of the G2 connected to external gear? If so, disconnect it and then check to see if the problem still persists. Does this problem also happen while selfplaying patches/performances are running? Are all four output jacks and the headphone output affected?

It seems to stop cutting out when the expansion card is out... which is good and bad I guess! When it does happen with the card in it happens quite randomly and nothing seems to change setting wise. It happens with whatever patch I'm playing. There is no external gear plugged in.

Thanks for the tips though, the investigation continues....

Sounds not too good I think, sounds like issues with the extension board interacting with the main thing ... which probably means: repair needed.

One other thing I can think of, power issues .. is the power cable, a very short ribbon cable running from the power supply to the main board, properly seated?
