Is there no way to modulate the waveshapes of oscillator 3 and 4 with LFO or ENV?

The only way to get something useful out of that IMO would be if you could morph between wavetables (that would be cool), which I don't think is supported.

Hmm, it doesn't seem like you can control the waveshapes from the sequencers either - that could have been useful.

The waveshapes can be controlled by the sequencer but strange enough waveshape is not among the destination parameters. Instead there's a "shape seq" parameter below "shape" where a sequence can be chosen.
