While converting some NM1 patches to the G2 I just came along the fact that the new shapemod OSC´s differ from the old NM1 Spectral Osc regarding the response to the shape modulation.
The spectral OSC is rising in level in an exponential way during the shape sweep while the new shapemod osc´s try to keep the same level.

I prefer the behaviour of the old spectral OSC because it just has more character and sounds more natural to me how it reacts on shape modulations.
It has a more explosiv character...

The attached jpg shows how to adjust the level thing...
The sound of the G2 shapemod oscs is still a bit different to the NM1 spectral OSC even when the levelthing is fixed. But it sounds much closer with this fix.

That was what i was missing exactly in G2: the old Spectral OSC.

It bites like nothing else...

Welcome to the forum Bacizone !

Don't think I saw anyone from Hungary here or on the NM mailing list before.

Jan.

hi jan,

I used your MidiMod several times Smile))

AFAIK lots of guys use the old NM and the G2 in Hungary too... mainly the G2 Engine.

I used to be a Micromodular, later a Modular Rack user, but since G2 I use a Nord Lead 3 only, it is also a beast in itself.

But I always wink my eye on the G2 Engine.. it is already userf friendly with its new software update (everything is accessibel via shortcuts at last and patches can be stored as sysex - GREAT!!!)

But what I was missing> the spectral osc and the osc sinus bank, however there are incredible new features as well in G2.

Will they ever include them into a new software... ? who knows...

greets,
Bacizone
