check out www.gyration.com for some wireless mice sales info. i'm planning to get one and interface it to ChucK so i can control music with arm gestures and dance.

I figure it must have a 2d gyro, so that's cool - enough for the job. And it can look like many devices with the software, but i would just use it as it's native mouse human interface device (HID). ChucK interfaces well to such devices, built into the software without external drivers.

I figure i'll get the Mac version since i have a Mac mini, and could choose either Mac or PC version. Anyone have any thoughts on such a project?

I ended up getting the PC version since it would work with my Mac mini and with a PC if I get a notebook computer. It works great for a lot of things but there are major limitations.

Most notably, there is no configuration software from Gyration for the Mac mini. This means that I cannot set it as a joystick or as mouse 1 or anything like that, so it acts like the system mouse at all times. The reason this is not good is that any button presses get interpreted by the system (and mouse motions too) such that one can accidentally do things like launch applications from the taskbar or close applications, etc.

Also ChucK accesses the gyro X and Y just fine, but it does not access the three-axis accelerometer at all. The gyro goes a long way but I'd like to use the accelerometer also and I cannot. Nor does ChucK receive button clicks from the three programmable buttons (only the first three buttons are sensed).

So with reservations I'm happy with the product. I'd like to see configuration software from Gyration and full access from ChucK, but I'm having a great time using the parts of the mouse that I can access.
