yes self taught and built from scratch, i start with rough sawn timbers , I do my own fretboards and all my own finishing , though i do buy the hardware obviously . Tried winding a pickup by hand once really really tedious Laughing

Back in 2008/2009 when we were working on the guitar pickup invention, DrJustice and I created the Marilyn Monroe guitar. Pictured below, it is proportional to her measurements in the three places that matter. Posting this at the request of Shane in the chatroom.

thanks, it's a monster. Yes, at the time i took this picture it was tuned like a chapman stick but with 5ths/5ths tuning instead of the usual 5ths/4ths.
if that sounds like i'm speaking klingon -forgive me.

you can play mine, Dave. You taking care of my old chapman stick? Very Happy
i havent seen you since that Richard Lainhart performance that Bill put together. We should play some time.

BTW- did you know that Richard was a tapper, too? Cool

Your old Stick is doing great Very Happy Absolutely love it. I have another 12 string in Purpleheart which has a Stickup in it. Great instrument as well.

Yea it's been a while ... Would be cool to get together. A shame about Richard. I didn't know he was a tapper....

I like instruments that are tuned in 5ths, although I get confused sometimes, or bogged down in too-easy patterns...

I really like the 5ths tuning, too. These extended-range touch guitars have a bass guitar scale length and the 5ths tuning really extends the range.

Yes, Richard had a Chapman Stick. He told me he hurt his wrist and didnt dedicate much time to it anymore. When it came to guitar, he mostly played his 6 string Stienberger. A nice minimalist design for guitar.

Excellent, you've got some nice tappers.
We should invade Chez Mosc ! Very Happy

That would be cool! I've been wanting to get back there but have had a lot of things going on during Saturdays. Maybe we should schedule something with him in advance and mark it on the calender?
