Minimoog and the tis97 transistor |

What is a direct drop in replacement for the TIS97 transistor within a MiniMoog? Or is there a cheap place to buy them? |

Hi. You can use 2N3904 as direct replacement. |

Is there a reason the service manual only states one of the "tis" transistors to be a direct replacement with the 3904? |

Interesting.
If you got them from Fairchild, you got A max collector current, (Ic) of 500mA, and a max VCE of 40V. If you got them from microElectronics they specify Ic max of 200mA, but VCE of 60V.
Otherwise it's a high gain general purpose NPN with a fairly low capacitance, (1 - 4 pF).
I would be tempted to try a BC 547, (since I'm in Europe), and select one with a gain higher than 300, YMMV. _________________ Mike |

To take a shot at my own question, it might simply be the pinout? |

From my datasheets I get VCE = 40v for both. |
