I just thought that you'd like to see an exchange I had on the Nashville Electronic Music Group on Facebook. The names were not changed. No one is protected!

i don't really understand how this "supports fellow artists" when the artists are not only uncompensated, but are also required to buy tickets.

electro-music.com is a community of artists. Not everyone understands the fellowship we share and the support we give each other. There are more types of support than financial and electro-music concentrates on these other forms. The electro-music festival is NOT a festival of musicians performing to the public for a fee. This is a TOTALLY different animal. Not everyone gets it. People attend from the UK, several European countries, and Egypt. There must be something special going on when people come from so far away on their own dime. We all pitch in to make this happen even though we all pay our own way. This is NOT a commercial venture.

It's like going to a retreat or band camp for electronic and electro-acoustic musicians. So many styles, so little time. Two performance stages, a room for jams, and a room for talks, presentations, demos, etc. Anyone who doesn't learn something at an electro-music festival is either a genius, lazy, or performing on stage while the talk they wanted to attend was happening in another room at the same time. |

When you finally get there, you'll kick yourself for not going sooner! We all look forward to when your finances are friendly enough to enable you to attend. Our community is stronger when more people are able to attend.

| One pays to go to Knobcon and I'm betting many of the other synth meets around as well. As you say, some get it, some don't. |
