Got this message on my G2 today. Anyone know what it means and if there is a fix for this? _________________ Jack Hertz.com | Aural Films |

UPDATE: I thought it might be the Encore expansion card. Opened up the G2 and reseated the board. No change.
Next I tried reloading the OS 1.62 and it has restored the G2 to its working state with original patches and all. So all is not lost.
Would like to know what that error means if anyone knows. _________________ Jack Hertz.com | Aural Films |

An internet search on “sect chks error” (short for sector checksum error, apparently) found a few results related to Nord keyboards. One is a forum page (in French) where a person got this error on a Nord Stage and then could not run the OS update:

The final update was this post (translated to English):

So I turned my keyboard where I bought it. The repairman called me today to tell me that it comes from the motherboard (500 € HT) and more precisely from the memory of the motherboard. But as Clavia provides no pattern to resellers, we must change everything.
In short, it is a relatively rare crash as clavia provides very good material .... and it falls on moi. |
Required a motherboard replacement for 500 €? OUCH
I’m not sure that would be necessary though. If the error is from a socket mounted memory chip, simply popping in a new chip should at least get you back to square one.
So Jack, it appears that you were lucky enough that your G2 was at least able to allow the OS update to run. But, as always, I recommend that you keep a current backup of your patches just in case… _________________ varice |
