Hi Keith!
I too have uploaded a lot of tunes here that aren't posted elsewhere. I usually post here first and sometimes I edit the tune later, so the versions here are the originals. (That's not necessarily a good thing.)

The Decimal Bug....now that's quite an interesting experimental piece you've got there. There's always that "base" melody lingering thoughout the entire song...it's like the lifeforce of the song, well at least till the end where it gets all subtle, hehe! _________________ I'm an aspiring artist, and I also aspire to inspire! =D |

The Hatching of The Decimal Bug |
 |
|
I was playing around with some softsynths and used a short piece of looping MIDI so I could change settings in real time to hear what happened. I found one that sounded interesting and recorded several minutes. I used different softsynth and/or setting and recorded that, then a third. I put all three recordings in Audacity and faded the first to full volume, kept it full for a time, then faded it out. The second had a fade in/full/fade out envelope of the same size and shape, but began during the full volume part of the first. The third did the same relative to the second. I twiddled a bit with the beginning and end, mixed them down to one track then let it marinate for a couple months. I would have a listen once in a while and slowly began to see it as something worth keeping. The name jumped off a list I keep of potential track names and said, "Use me, use me!" _________________ Keith Quillen

A question/request for anyone who listens |
 |
|
About 5 years ago I had an ear infection that unfortunately caused a near total loss of hearing in my left ear. What is still there works only at high volumes and then not well. If you happen to listen in a stereo environment to any of my work posted here I would welcome any feedback regarding panning. I try to do panning based on my experience from before my hearing loss and memory of what it would sound like. If it sounds obviously wrong I would like to know. I don't have anyone available close at hand who is interested enough to help with this question as I work. My music is too strange for most of my acquaintances.
Thanks for any feedback, not just this.

Nice track ... the mix seems to lean the left a bit .. and there is a lot of stereo separation .. a bit much for listening on headphones ... also the separation of lows and highs over the image may be a bit uneven .. less basss in the right channel I thought.
But, it's a nice track :-) _________________ Jan
