Subject description: A musical tribute
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

In the chatroom the idea came up to have a live streaming event in memory of Antimon/Stefan Blixt who is sadly no longer with us.
A musical tribute so to speak. I personally think that for an event like this doing it open port style would work best. In other words
there is no set schedule and people can come and play as they please. There is also no time limit on sets so they can be short or long
and you could do a couple of sets if you want, maybe we can also get a jam going or several collaborations. Music can be live or
prerecorded and if you want to make a playlist with some tracks by Antimon you personally like that's fine with me. I think I'll set up
a playlist with tracks anyway to play between sets when needed.

Next weekend is probably too soon to prepare and spread the word so I am thinking the weekend after that might be suitable. Audiodef
(damien) mentioned in chat that a two day event might be good too in case someone wants to play but can't make it on a set date. That
might be a good idea and of course you are free to play at anytime anyway.

If you want to participate or have any suggestions just leave a comment. Also if you do want to play at a set time or think a scheduled
event would be better that can be discussed here too. This post is merely to get the ball rolling.

Good idea, PHOBoS!

I would love to contribute but will be traveling next week.
Maybe I can prepare something in advance this Saturday.

Fancy That, Electronic Nights. I'll see if something will Bring Me Round as well. I'll definitely Listen To The Sounds, and have A Laugh And a Cry, Öppningsdags Till Stängningsdags. As much as my Commuter's Diary allows.

Pax.

Excellent idea. I had already decided a month or so ago that I wanted to develop a deep understanding of the "Waves" series in order to be able to attempt something along those lines, but I had been planning to listen for another year or so before attempting to customize it to my gear and performance modalities. Maybe for the second annual SB tribute event.

I like the Open Port [parallel to Open Mic] format with the SB playlist in between performances.

Howard is temporarily unavailable to participate but isn't sure when he will be able to resume streaming concerts. If Howard is available, please count us in. If not, please feel free to rebroadcast our most recent episode of Chez Mosc which happened on the first Saturday following Stefan's passing.

I hope Twyndyllyngs will be able to perform live of course, but I think it could/should be played either way.

Since there haven't been any suggestions to do it at a different date we will go through with it this weekend.
For me personally sunday would work best and probably for rob too. I also asked dave and he's ok with
sunday too. Of course if you can't make it on sunday or would prefer saturday that's fine too. I'll probably
be in the chatroom both days anyway if help is needed with switching.

Sunday is great for me. I can cancel my regular spot to make things more flexible, if needed.

Just saw this. I have one family commitment Sunday, but I will check in and do a straight acoustic banjo set for Stefan, wherever it fits. I am so sorry that Stefan is no longer in this plane.

with playing some Antimon tunes after I wake up. But you don't have to wait for me Wink

An acoustic (piano/voice) cover of one of Stefan's pop songs (and one of my favorites) from 2013 called 'blind'.

here is my set for Stefan today , first is me on guitar doing an intro then a new Orchard track called Antimon , and Orchard track from the last album and 2 different covers of Antimons deep inside song , and some fresh Epicyclus sequencers to finish fading out with the ambient sounds of a cerimonial burning long boat launch .

Missing you Stefan.

Dave.

Here you go, Stefan. Your friends are thinking of you. Ohm...

EDIT 26 February 2018: First 15ish minutes are acoustic Bart Reiter Professional open-back 5-string banjo with Bacon tone ring & internal wooden resonator, run through a Max-for-Live Convolution Reverb Pro software effect. Last 15 minutes layer in time-and-pitch shifted recordings of first 15 minutes, ping-pong delay in Live, and some ebow. Two and three-finger picking patterns in places.

There were some questions about banjos on the Chat. The banjo originated in West African, and was adapted in the Appalachian Mountains from music largely derived from folk styles of the British Isles. My own picking is influenced by modal Appalachian music & modal jazz, Minimalist patterned music, rock'n'roll, blues, and adaption of 3-finger picking styles to some Latin American percussion patterns.

a big thanks to everyone who played, posted music and listened to the stream,
you guys are all awesome!

For my set I sampled a bit of Antimon's music in my MI Clouds module and also used some
of his fieldrecordings. I started off with some drones as Stefan was an avid listener to
my PHOBoS presents: Music from "project droning" shows. My PC froze for a bit after about
20 minutes so it's in 2 parts, but I had thought about doing 2 seperate sets anyway.

This one was for you stefan,
I only knew you in bits and bytes,
but you were one of the best people I've never met.
I hope you sleep well,
in the dreaming machine.
you will be remembered,
your sampled ghost will rest in me.
