Subject description: Construction of my modular!

Hello all,
I wasn't going to post anything until I was a lot further on in construction but I am so pleased with my panels, I wanted to show them off! Very Happy

After about 10 prototypes, I finally got the process nailed and I couldn't be happier with the results. They are made of 3 mm bamboo. I cut and engraved them with my modified cheapo Chinese K40 laser. Then filled the engraving with a black epoxy and finished with a few coats of matt water-based varnish.

I am a woodworker at heart so wanted to extend this to my modular.

That is rather nice! Very Happy

As a person with my own wooden panels, I always enjoy seeing more. One thing I noticed building my own, is that metal panels provide a function that wooden panels don't: provide shielding and put all panel components at the same electrical potential. It gave me some issues with touch sensitive pots and switches. The solution was to glue aluminium household foil to the back of the panels. Maybe you don't experience the same problems, but in case you do, something like this does help. Smile

Thanks, this did cross my mind actually, it is interesting to hear you had some issues. I have a few rolls of aluminium tape left over from another project and was thinking about putting a strip on the backs of the panels. Sounds like it might be worth doing after all.

Thanks for the tip!
