well, we hear microtonal music more often than we think. Often times when listening to ethnic flavoured music/world music there are microtonal elements involved. _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

Yep, in the US, there is a popular beer commercial featuring "Galvanize" by Chemical Brothers, which uses a sampled phrase that is clearly NOT in Western 12-tone equal temperament - sounds very close to the Persian Dastagh known as "Shuur".
Seraph, I continue to be impressed by your compositions! |

Carlo, this is not a scale rendering, rather.. it is a cool piece! Well done.
As for microtonality, Carlo is quite right that we are indeed hearing it way more than we actually get consciously. Norwegian folk music is full of it ( but it doesn´t quite translate to the kosher notation ). It would be fun to marry an EM event with scandinavian folk music. Someday it will happen. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
