Hope this is in the right discussion forum.

I use a MS20 in conjunction with a Kenton Pro Solo mkII (makes the MS20 sequencable/triggable thru my korg M1, as well as some fine filtering to boot). Was wondering if there are other users on this board who wouldn't mind discussing tricks and tips etc...

I guess I'll post a basic setup that I start with (hopefully someone else will give a tip or two).

Kenton box CV (Hz/V) to MS20 VCO 1+2 CV IN
Kenton box GATE to MS20 TRIG IN
MIDI in from THRU off sampler (which has midi in coming from M1)
Mackie 1202 mixer AUX send 1 to MS20 SIGNAL IN (EXTERNAL SIGNAL PROCESSOR)
MS20 OUT (from external signal processor) to MS20 EXT SIGNAL IN
W/ the main MS20 obviously going back into a channel on the Mackie!

This basic set-up can give you countless sonic opportunities.

(The Kenton box by the way is solid... no latency or drift at all).

Cheers!

Basically I have used my MS synths with no midi gear attached.

Uh, not quite true... since I traded the first SQ-10 for a version that was modded with various external sync options.. ( and the SQ-10 Ultra did come with an external box that theoretically could sync to midi.. by the route of some other gear I never picked up.. or did I ?? Shocked ) .. anyways.. then the most advanced stuff I ever synced it with was the MC-4 and the CSQs.

I know Ian (g2ian) used to have a full setup of Korg semi-modular stuff. Hopefully he'll chime in with some tips or anecdotes.

It's been a while. I used to like patching the noise into the esp, adjusting the high/low filter and level gave nice random pulses from the trigger out.
Also severely clipped noise is great to add impact to explosion patches.
Most of my other fave tricks involved modules from the MS50.

If you get an MS50, you will find that a couple of "Lion Red" beer bottles is the ideal height for supporting the back of the MS50, while the front rests on the narrow top of the MS20.
