Thanxx for the reply....I send a mail to Clavia about this...and here's the answer i got...

"Hi

I really can't discuss or make any comments on future products or updates. The G2 will probably not be getting any updates, it is what we call a completed product.

Best regards,
Tomas Johansson
Product Manager - Clavia DMI AB"

Well, if it's a completed product, and they're not planning on making any more, how 'bout opening up the source code to the community? The thought of an open-source synthesizer based on a platform as amazing as the G2 has me drooling already.

Cool things start happening when a bunch of geniuses (many of which seem to hang out around here) start experimenting.

This has all been discussed before, and everyone is in the unfortunate agreement that Clavia is way to small a company to continue making products, and support an open source development. I know, "What's to support". There's alot, actually.

Anyway, this is disappointing. I thought Clavia made announcements earlier this year at MESSE that they would deliver an update "later this year". Isn't it late in the year now? Maybe I'm mistaken. It'll take a bit of digging in the forum to find this reference again...

Yes earlier this year the tone of the statements was a bit different, more like a maybe yes, where it now sounds more like a maybe no. Apparently the work on the wave was demanding or something.

Bought I am yourself from Clavia two products Nord Modular and G2engine. Which is for Czech republic very big money. My final result is, that never more yourself purchased nothing from Clavia.

Source code - it is big illusion, this is total end.

Heavy expenses disillusion

this is very bad news

so you buy a synth completely dependant with a PC and when this PC upgrades, your synth becomes obsolete, shame on you Clavia.
On a nord modular, I can accept this because it's a discontinued product but with the G2,.... Confused
and you wanna sell the nord wave (with PC editor Shocked Shocked )
I'm not a fool, I 've just ordered a blofeld and for the romper side, my Yam make wonders

Clavia promised another update for the NM as well, years and years ago before the G2 was even announced.

in fact, right now on Clavia.se it says;
clavia.se wrote:

Future upgrades will include new modules available for free from www.clavia.se.

I wonder if that's legal, there are no disclaimers that I could find (and I looked), not even a privacy policy.

Hmmm, not good indeed. As Blue Hell indicated rightly, about a year ago it was communicated that an update "was planned but no date has been set for its release" (I received an email with this info myself after enquiring about an update). This is not good for their public image, regardless of the fact that the G2 is very good synth already.

Not making new modules or fixing relatively minor bugs (MHO) is strategy that I could understand from Clavia (although I certainly hope differently). However, not providing an editor - which is crucial for your product - that works on the current OSes at the time the product is still being sold and 'supported' is not a good way to do business in my book. I'm not personally waiting for Vista drivers at the moment, but I still sent an email to Clavia to let my opinion be heard as a customer. It probably does not help the matter one bit, but I just had to do it.

You're not the only one! Twisted Evil

It's stupid to release a synth which will take around 3 years to learn and only support it for 3 years.

How can they call it a finished product when there are still bugs in it?

Word. Please let's not confuse OS bugfixing and OS updating. If Clavia decides not to update (augment) the G2 specification with new features, that is their right and that's fine with me. However, if they will not address the bugs existing in the current specification, that to me is morally corrupt. Hey, they are still selling the G2, for goodness sake!!

Many bugs have been well documented here in this forum and have been confirmed by other users. To sell a buggy product (not exactly cheap too) while calling it a "top quality instrument" on ones website, with no sense of obligation to fix those bugs and responsibility towards ones customers, is nothing but dishonest and loathsome.

BTW: They threw the Nord Wave on the market with an unfinished buggy OS too...

For me, Clavia has always been the standard bearer of quality, support and reliability. Those times are obviously over.

I'm disgusted by their attitude, and am considering getting rid of my G2Xs and never to buy or use anything from them ever again.

Tssss... Rolling Eyes

Although there's a bunch of stupid design decisions inherent in my Yamaha S90 (sampled vibrato and a crappy UI for example), I like some of the sounds so I decided to keep it. When Yamaha released an updated S90 as a new synth instead of fixing the existing instrument, I promised myself I would not buy another Yamaha instrument and I intend to keep that promise.

I guess the same now goes for Clavia. I won't sell my G2X because it makes some great sounds despite the bugs, but releasing a new instrument without ensuring the previous is solid is certainly wrong. What I find most amazing is that Clavia would go to the trouble of designing, building and marketing such an incredible, expandable, combination software/hardware instrument, and then abandon it, particularly for the very average (although perhaps good-sounding) stuff they have ended up concentrating on.

Perhaps all of the victims of Vista should put together a formal request (not a complaint) and send it to Clavia to request this most basic of updates.

You have nothing to lose.

Not really. The Nord Modular community is still alive and thriving, even though there have not been any updates for it for almost 8 years ( please correct my time reference here.)

Yet, thanks to Chesran and a small group of dedicated followers, there exists an open source version of the NM Editor, which is improving weekly.

Several simple solutions.

1. Don't update the OS. Is there any real reason why people must go to Vista?
2. Keep an old PC with XP around. They are much cheaper than NM's or G2.
3. At least one workaround has been suggested and proven using some relatively inexpensive software (compared to the price of a used nM and G2 that is.

Lets be realistic, what released products don't have bugs in them?

Just how is a 4-5 person company going to survive by expending resources
on an older product which may not be bringing in as much money as the new ones?
