beautiful thang... now matrixsynth, so i'll bet someone snaps it up. what circuit did you use for the envelope follower?

Same one from the nurse quacky, with a spare op-amp as a typical gate converter.

It's actually aluminium, the photo makes it look much shinier than it is. It's stuff the you use to make splashbacks for your kitchen work tops. It's cheap and it's just about stiff enough.

Where'd ya get the panels?

I got the aluminium sheet for the panels from B&Q, a big UK DIY/home improvement superstore.
The sheets are 12cm x 100cm, and I just used tin snips to cut the panels to size and cleaned up the edges with a file.

So I started my Lunetta 2.0 this week - inspired to get moving by Andrews 24 hour Lunetta project.
Since 24 hours straight would not go over well with my wife or employment - I worked on it a few evenings this past week, and pretty much finished up the perf board this morning. Depending on how the panel comes together I may be able to add one or two chips - but it's getting tight.

Here's what we've got so far
6 40106 Oscillators/
2 4094 shift registers
4024 Sub Osc/Freq Divider
4089 Freq. divider
4 XOR gates 4030
2 4024 Ripple Counter
2 4015 Shift Register
4516 Up/Down counter
4051 Mux/DeMux
4017/4051 pattern generator
R/2R ladder
2 40106 VCO (Tnx Synthmonger!)
555 VCO
4 input audio mixer w/ line out and Headphone Amp

I'm laying out the panel on a 17"x8"x3" aluminum 'Bud' box.
Right now it's a tangled mass of flying wires....but it promises to be a fun toy.

lol - the flying wires have gotten a bit out of hand, haven't they? Confused

Actually though, I just mentioned in a PM that it's nice to not have to use the brain much putting these together. Peek at the data book, add a few resistors & bypass caps and send the IC pins to the panel...

Don't be put off building one of these by my mess!

Looks like a great start and if 1.0 is any indication, should sound great too..

Any new modules you'd care to share schematics of on this thread, rf? I'm curious what other chips i might use if I make a 1.5 side-kit Lunetta. Not sure at this point whether it's necessary as I've been getting crazy sounds out of the suitcase I have.

It looks great actually, as in "nice picture" Cool

And indeed people should not feel intimidated to much; after all one starts with one wire and then it builds up a bit ... Wink

wow it's a lot of wiring, hehe.

Here's another iteration of mine, starting to fill out more bits.

The 40106 oscillators and some other stuff lives on another panel

Nice Cab!
You are gonna have room for a LOT of modules!

I've crowded myself on mine. I've had this bud box in the garage for... seriously 10 years or more. I guess it's time to use it.
It's got a few bonus holes from its previous life I'm trying to work around or with - to varied levels of success.

Anyway - here's where I'm at on this one.

Looks great, theMinister! I'm curious also as to what you have in the box and what is planned to be added.

I moved almost a year ago now - it does take a while to get settled. Welcome back!

thanks guys.
currently working on getting everything soldered to go in the case.
8 x 40106 oscs, 4 with sync out 4 with sync in (as per the bugbrand design)
4 x nand gate oscs each with an input jack so they can be modulated (based on the nic collins book)
the big section of jacks in the middle will be for some gates of some sort, i have to check and see what chips i have. there's also a row for 1 and a row for 0, somebody's layout had that, i thought it was cool.
the colomn of 1/4" and banana jacks is the mixer section. four inputs each with an output and a master/head phone out.
i realized as i was putting everything in that i forgot a power switch and volume control so that will probably stick out like a sore thumb.
i don't really plan on labeling anything, maybe just with lines connecting related things together. the layout is such that inputs are above their respective outputs. on the oscs with an in and out the pot is in the middle.
the case is from a touch and tell, one of my first circuit bending attempts. i fried something and threw it in the corner and left it for dead. that was three-ish years ago. and my wife thinks i should start thowing stuff out, ha!
hopefully by the weekend i'll be posting the finished product with some sounds. i'm pretty anxious to hear it all together off the breadboard.

i really have to thank everyone for motivating/guilting me into this stuff again. everybody on this board does such amazing things.

@RF:
This is a slightly nerdy question, but which gauge of cable are you using for your flying wires brain surgery work of art? I have to do most of my ordering online so I can't really judge which cable would be suitable for me Smile

Or does anyone else have any recommendations?

TIA

David

Oh hell yes. My Lunetta might not look like much but she's a screamer alright. Did some playing around with it this evening and, oh yes, you can bet I'm going to add some more oscillators and Ics. yayyyyyyyyy.

Will also make it prettier. That's the easy part.

Also need to sort out a better power hub. You can see where the modules are branching out from, on that bit of perfboard are some power caps.

I'm afraid to plug it into my sound card, do you think i'll ruin something?

Hi David -

#24 pre-bond from Small Bear Electronics.
It's pricey compared to scavanging ($5 for 50 feet) - but it's so easy to work with.
