btw are you and jkn relatives Question both your nicknames start with "jk" Shocked

Smile

I have a hyphenated last name... When we got married we both took each others name (my original last name was Northrup). Full name:

John R. Koch-Northrup

In our case - Koch is pronounced Cook.

I shortened my initials to just "jkn" since "jrkn" is somewhat welcoming a few jokes... Wink

Hyphenating has causes a number of annoying issues (income tax, drivers license, social security, etc...) over the years. My wife wishes we had never done it - however, I love my name the way it is now.

if your children also marry someone with an hyphenated last name, like smith-jones...

they will become mr and mrs. Koch-Northrup-Smith-Jones ....that could get interesting Very Happy

The city looks pretty much like it must have looked 4 or 5 hundred years ago. Is there a modern city surrounding it? Do you live in the old part of town, Carlo?

Hmm.. isnt´t there actually at least one semifamous painting from like at least 350 years back, done from the same spot you took this pix?

I guess you are right but 500 years ago there were neither cars nor thousands of tourists flooding the city, day in day out. The medieval town is very small and, of course, it is surrounded by more recent neighborhoods. I don't live "downtown" (it's more expensive than Beverly Hills!) Very Happy

I don't know about that but I am quite sure that one is one of the most "pictoresque" spots in town Exclamation (I was surrounded by Japanese tourists)

Laughing

The eggs. I guess after a long day they looked so perfect in the pot. It's just the two of us living here, me and my wife Juli. We eat a lot of meat, cheese and eggs because we are both on low carb diets. We make big batches of hard boiled eggs because they keep pretty well.

I take lots of picture of greasy dish water but Juli doesn't like me to post them. Sad

Hey I just saw this thread! My apt! Lime kilns and the 'Stairs to Nowhere'. My work crew and I eat lunch down there every day in summer, then play frisbee. Not a bad noon break!

Carlo, you horrible man! You show us Norwegians this as we're slowly dragged into another Arctic winter. Do you expect us to be happy up here after knowing that other people have beauty and warm, fairly clement weather? Shocked

a proverb says: " you can't have everything from life": we enjoy mild winters and suffer torrid summers, Italian food is the best but we have bad politicians Wink

no, only jewelers Shocked that bridge was the only one, crossing the Arno River in Florence, left intact during WWII Exclamation Both Allies and Nazis had pity on it. The many other ones were all bombed Exclamation

above the stores you can see a "corridor": it's the Vasari Corridor
on that page there is an error: It was NOT commissioned from Giorgio Vasari, It was commissioned TO Giorgio Vasari.
