Some liquid flux would prevent those solder tails on the ICs, and make the whole SMT soldering experience a lot easier. Look out for a needle flux dispenser bottle too. I presume you're using solder paste too? (solder-wire is a nightmare on SMT).

i AM using solder-wire it is 0.5mm and works quite fine on the 1206 packages IMHO.
however, i believe you and will try additional flux on the ICs. i have dispenser already... _________________

With paste it leaves your hand free to steady the component with tweezers, rather than holding the wire / tweezers and soldering iron - which would be ok if you had 3 hands.. _________________
i use the point of a compass to positioning a smd component in place and to hold him in place when i solder it,i applie wire solder first on one side of the pad on the pcb ,it goes faster as soldering classic components..
and i just hold everything in place with tiny bits of blue tack
and solder everything with a normal iron and .71 mm solder wire
works fine I only pick up the iron twice for the entire board ,very fast. there are seemingly many ways to do the same thing
1.5 mm solder wick will also get rid of the those tails very quickly and make those IC's very neat , just leaving solder under the tags only.
fonik do you plan to make the surface mount boards available ?
1st i place a little bit of solder to one one pad for each component.
i then place and fix all components reheating the solder.
in a third run i solder the left pads.
it is indeed faster than TH.
i see more interest in SMD, however the majority still wants TH? i will start a poll... _________________
two squarewave oscillators are used. the carrier oscillator gets controlled by the sequencer. the sequencer also controlls the carriers input.
the modulator input gets controlled by a LFO.
i am playing with the settings of the VCMod, even some nice gate/VCa action is possible.

I notice you've got expo current sources running the input VCAs. I'm assuming it sounds just fine, but have you also tried it with the "standard" linear VCAs?

Makes sense. Controlling an expo VCA with a linear CV pot will give you a natural sounding exponential response. I don't know if it will still sound correct when controlled with an exponential envelope though. My guess is that it won't be a problem, but it's worth checking.
