I first stumbled onto ctrlr.org org maybe 3 years ago or so. Finally this spring/summer I tried to do something with it. My September Seasonal Event performance used a very simple panel I designed--I controlled the on/off and relative volume (CC11) of several arps on my E-Mu XL-1. (Not sure if I used all 32 midi channels or not.)

I have not done anything more with it since. Atom (the developer) seems to be constantly improving on it. I did not do a review, but I wrote up some comments--either here or in one of the E-Mu Yahoo User Groups.

Here's a screen shot showing the very simple panel I used. If you listen to the September Equinox piece (underneath the screen shot), you can pretty much hear me starting (and sometimes stopping) the arps as well as adjusting CC11 (which I used to set relative volume of each of the up to 32 midi channels). Live keyboarding (using multiple midi channels) was layered on top of the arps triggered from the ctrlr panel.

ctrlr.org panels can do whatever you have the ability to design and program. What I did was probably about less than a millionth of what someone could do if they spent time really getting into it.

I somehow overlooked it myself for years. I use Sonar and do a great deal of midi programming via the various methods there. I often refer to the studio's snake pit as the "3 LANs". One audio (both in and out), two the computer network that links all the computers and three, the midi lan.

I caught this link as it was posted to my yahoo group for the Alesis ION, Micron and Akai Miniak. As soon as I have the studio back up I am going to update one of the systems or just make a box to house the new Visual Studio. I am sure there are simpler compiler out there too, http://www.c-compiler.com/ for example. I might just do that and screw all that Visual Studio stuff out the door, I only need to adjust this and mostly about the same ... I don't program much these days other than messy databases at he day job and we just hired someone for that too. Cool

I am still using Sonar 4 too, I have other versions just not the box to run them on, yet anyway.

This sounds like something that I might find handy, can save settings? movements and such?

This looks very cool. I will test it out when I get a chance. I see that they already have something prepared for the juno-106 and the tx7. I got both of those Very Happy
