Orwell Remix - 9 days Left
Subject description: sound art album
|Hello Electro Music !
As some of you may know, my George Orwell 1984 Remix Project is about to reach its deadline. This project is an experimental electronic music and sound art album inspired by issues of media literacy. Source material includes samples from Orwell's novel (on vinyl), modern media clips, field recordings, acoustic and electronic instruments. Orwell's fictional society was scary and fascinating, moving into 2010, we see our world shares some interesting parallels. The project borders between social justice and experimental art. It is designed to provoke questioning and discussion. I am producing it as a CD, vinyl record and graphics art book. I am donating 100% of the proceeds to Amnesty International.
The project production is driven by the phenomena of "crowd funding" which replaces specialized grant applications or other more formal and traditional fund-raising techniques. I am using the artist site "Kickstarter" as my platform and I am at 71% with just a few days to go. The project funding is all or nothing, I must meet my goal at 100% or all pledges are canceled.. No contribution is too small and every contribution over $10 receives the album.
Below, are several links outlining the project in-depth with budget, press write-ups and airplay. I invite you to read the proposal and consider supporting this endeavor. The work is unique and it has been a challenging journey to develop the project. However, I feel tremendously rewarded that it has come this far. Thank you for taking the time to read this email. Please feel free to write me with any questions you may have.
