This is my first post of three with a few patches for you patch freaks out there to enjoy. Smile

NOTE: All recordings are processed, because I feel that it allows you to hear the Andromeda in context. For the pads, FX are mandatory in my opinion. The Alesis Andromeda FX, while adequate, is inferior to outboard, so all sounds were recorded by switching the patch into the Aux outputs and running through a TC Electronics M300. Timeworks and Waves plugins were used to compress the sound and add EQ when I felt appropriate.

INSTANT SPACE

The Andromeda is one of the most complex analogs made, this makes it a far better pad machine than most people would give one credit for. Steve Roach after all uses his Xpander as a huge chunk of the basis of his sound. No reason the Andromeda can't Xpander up, despite its Memorymoog pretensions.

This patch pretty much is an instant Hearts of Space background track, just add sensitive pianos or something.

The long envelopes are key to this ability; personally, I have had the most success doing pads with the Filter 1 BP -> Filter 2 LP configuration with good resonance at the right levels. Instant Space uses two oscs spaced well apart (two octaves and four semitones apart) and takes advantage of the unfilter sine, unison detune, and suboscs for depth.

ICY SPACE

A lot more spooky sounding patch than Instant Space, this is another demonstration of the principles of Filter 1 BP -> Filter 2 LP with resonance.

ANGELS IN THE SKY

When I need a synthesized choir sound, this is where I turn to. I use this patch fairly heavily in the 80s cover band I'm in, on songs such as White Wedding and what not. This patch borrows off of the principle in such patches as Mike Peake's "Cantus Firmus" and other Andromeda choir sounds, in that you can keytrack / modulate the LFOs that control PWM and therefore realistically get a choir sound. Once again, a Filter 1 BP -> Filter 2 LP sound.

welcome to the electro-music.com forum. Glad to have you here. I don't have an A6 but the mp3 tracks sound very good.
