Pere,
Can you say something about transportation to the hotel from the airport? Is there a shuttle bus or something?
Also, is there a good bus service on the island if we want to take some tours? _________________ --Howard

The airport is about 20 minutes from the hotel. I just asked and they told me that a taxi is usually about 35-40€.
There is a bus stop just in front of the hotel that goes to Palma. That's where all buses depart from. The stop is called Nunyo Sanç at Santa Ponça. Here you have a map with the bus lines that operate in the SouthEast of Mallorca. Single tickets are about 3€. The only problem is that the bus is *sloooow* compared to a car but perfectly fine for a trip to Palma or Port d'Andratx (where I live).
My idea would be to rent some cars for a good price and then take some tours directly from the hotel with total freedom. The rental company brings you the car to the hotel and you can leave the keys at the Reception Desk when you are done. Price is about 38€ per day (January 2011 price) fully insured, unlimited kms. Maybe I can even get a discount on that. I just phoned to ask about that and I'm waiting for an answer.
If you rent the car for all your stay, the car rates get lower (usually 1 free day each 3 or similar) and you can get your car at the airport. A representative from the car rental company meets you at the airport parking, you sign the rental contract and you can leave the car again at the airport on your departure.
If there is enough interest and we are a party of 15-20 people, I can arrange a bus rental so that we all go and have fun visiting the north of the island, visiting "Sa Cartoixa" where Chopin lived, Serra de Tramontana and Formentor, the roman ruins of Pollentia, etc... and eat some local dishes such as roasted suckling pig, "frit de matançes" or snails. Also, for East Coast Americans you may feel interested about visiting the birthplace of Fray Junípero Serra, founder of several missions that later grew into the cities of San Diego, Los Angeles or San Francisco. For the sports suited, the hotel organizes (free) walking trips to the surroundings, for example the mountain of Galatzó or Puig de Na Morisca.
Feel free to ask anything about transport & excursions or any other subject!

I finally have prices for single rooms. They cost 40€ per night.
Double rooms (Studios) cost 30€ per person per night (min. 2 adults, max 2 adults + 1 child).
Family rooms (Appartments) are also available and allow for max 2 adults + 2 children with special children reductions.
DM me and I will give you the details for the hotel reservation. _________________ pedro trotz's website |

Hey gang,
I just booked my flight, so count me in for a week of fun !!!
I would want to perform a solo-set and I can offer a lecture about circuit-bending and/or introduce the Teenage Engineering OP-1 synth.
My flight arrives on Sun 15. at 13:25 ( AB 9250)
Anyone happen to arrive around the same time so we can share a taxi/rental car?
Keep me informed about any shuttle oportunities...
my flight back is Sun 22. 20:20
see you all quite soon!
best,

GREAT!
I will be in charge of everything related to accomodation.
For details about hotel reservations: amount confirmation, bank account, etc DM me and I will answer ASAP. I can also provide help regarding transport, things to do in Mallorca, logistics, etc.
Now, anyone is ready for organizing an activities schedule? We could use a Google Docs spreadsheet and fill in the gaps. Or any other suggestion is welcome!!!
I will invite the spanish DIY group, BEFACO, to visit this thread.

We locals will do our best to pick some of you at the airport. Of course, it will be very useful to keep a list of arrival times to organize the trips!
Looking forward your visit,

I think we need to give a real BUMP on this.
I will take care of anything related to accommodation, logistics, local trips & activities... but someone should take initiative on promotion of the event and activities program.
Any volunteers? _________________ pedro trotz's website |

I'm really sorry but I won't be able to come to the event. I wish I could but things are working out in the wrong way for this. _________________ --Howard

Hi all,
Just checking in to say 'hi', and wishing everyone a great time at the event. I wish I could attend, but it's just not possible due to schedule and expense of travelling from California. Each of these events that I have attended have been wonderful and I really miss you guys. _________________ Dave Peck |

Count me for another benjolin.
Thursday I will ask if any of my students will attend to the Benjolin workshop. Is it ok to confirm here Friday morning?
Also, how much is the cost for a kit?
I have two soldering tools & various electronics that I will bring. _________________ pedro trotz's website |
