because he was a "William Morris" kind of figure?

He was a workaholic. I've never seen such fabulous output from a single person. Respect Jurgen. salut salut salut

There is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said.

If we can help to make his memory live on, let's do so.

So sad. I did not know him, but some of his work, and I have a module of his, which is fantastic. Thoughts to his family. Much to early, obviously.

What a shocking news...

Jurgen was a great designer and I remember how amazed I was when I discovered his site back in 2000. He certainly was responsible for my return to SDIY. He will be very missed.

That is sad news indeed. Jurgen was an extremely clever designer, and (from the few times I interacted with him) a nice guy too. He will be missed. Prayers and condolences to his family. Hopefully a tribute or even a memorial fund can be started?

I was thinking about a musical tribute. Load all the results up to a dedicated Jurgen Haible Soundcloud page?

Hello everybody,

I am really overwhelmed by the resonance this tragic news has found in your community in such a short time. Thank you for all good wishes and condolences!

Tomorrow I am going to attend the mourning ceremony at 4 PM CET in Nuremberg (the funeral will be within the family only), and hopefully have the occasion to speak to some of his relatives, e.g. by handing over a printout of your postings.

@Mongo1: Thank you for getting connected with Juergen's Pastor - why didn't I come to this idea? I will hopefully talk to him tomorrow, too.

I am also very confused today, my working day was a mess... But to give some comfort to those who find it relevant: I know that he was an active Christian (like me) and therefore believed in Eternal Life. I guess he will have a good time now with his Saviour Jesus Christ.

Since so many people asked for a memorial fund or similar: This is not a so well-known concept here in Germany, but I think a good one. If I can, I will clear this out the next days.

I will keep you informed.

Harry

Ugh. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Worst possible news to me. He was devoted to family, and was a good friend to bounce ideas off of. Now I am going to go cry.

RIP Juergen
