Between the tracks on the VCO PCB there are regions of superfluous copper.
Are these regions there for a reason or can they be removed, to neaten up the boards?

It's like that on most PCBs
and i suppose they make it like that so your ferric acid has to etch less copper, so your acid lasts longers, and your PCB gets done faster
