I can't seem to unarchive. I have tried Stuffit Expander and BOMArchiveHelper and I get errors at the end. But man - I am GLAD to see that this finally happened. Hopefully it will get updated every so often as well.
*update* - Tried another way and got it to open. You might want to recompress using another program or a different setting because it might have problems unarchiving on a Mac. |

Thanks to Blue Hell, Jan, for doing such a great job at creating this stand-alone archive. This is more than just a zip file of the patches, it comes with a full HTML index which maintains the context of the patches with links back to the origianl discussion, and acknowledges the author/creators. Great job...

Thanks,
Re. the unzip problems :
I used WinZip (8.1 probably) in maximum compression mode. I'll later try to rezip using the default settings instead.
When that still doesn't work there are some other options to try, or maybe we could make a Mac native file as well, sit I guess ? _________________ Jan

A zip should be fine, I've never come across one that wouldn't open in OSX before. It's not like Winzip 8.1 is brand new or anything.. weird. |

Thanks Jan, this one opens fine with Stuffit Expander, but not with OSXs internal unzip programme, I guess they updated that in 10.4.*
Cheers for redoing it. _________________ Steve |

What I had also done before, too lazy to retype the file name, was to empty an old zip and drag new files into it renaming just the last one or two digits of the file name. I'll not do that again either :-)
And I'll not update WinZip .. unless someone sends me one of these fab. new "secure zips", then I'll have to ... unless it's the PkZip vision on safety, which is not compatible ... of course.
Zip is not Zip no more I guess. _________________ Jan

yeah but without YOU taking up the cause, writing the script, getting it all approved, and pushing it through we'd still have nothing...
I think alot of people here are going to appreciate it in the months to come - it will end up being quite handy. I appreciate all your hard work and enthusiasm for this particular facet of this board and community. I really do. Last edited by Hyde on Tue Nov 22, 2005 6:25 am; edited 1 time in total |

Winzip 9.0 (and previous, I think) has two levels of "Maximum compression", one which "winzip" considers portable, the other level Warns you that the archive may not work on other systems.
I don't remember it warning the user about the compatibility issue, on versions of Winzip prior to 9.0.

Great, thankyouspankyou.
While we're at it ( ):
would it be a good idea to include Robs 298 collected newslist patches to the 1379 patches from the forum?
BTW, this server has become fast! Thanks for that, too. May the be with you. |
