Hehe, 15 min of playing and I am smiling alone in my studio after destroying some of my noodles. Watch your speakers and ears.

No new moduls, but exploring the mutator will bring more new sound than adding some new moduls.
And filling the variations after creating a patch will be not hard work but lots of fun...
And this can be fine tuned in a very clever and nice way!
I was afraid that there would be not mutch control over the process of mutation. But I very happy the way they implemented the features.
At least after the first short time of playing.
And I have to finish a lot of music for a sound installation at an exhibition.
If this is not inspiring |

yeah, i was... it was hard. especially when i undertsood how hard it was to wait. i just wanted to say 'don't worry, they're working on it, it'll be good!' -- i became a tester in the first place so i wouldn't have to check their site every 5 minutes like i did prior to 1.4!
also, i want to make sure everyone notices the new color scheme option that was included to help color blind users.
finally, the readme.txt doesn't include ALL of the little bugs and such that were eliminated, only some of them. so, if you have a bug that's not mentioned in the readme, try to reproduce it in 1.4 and see if they nailed it. if not, update your thread. |

Ah, what a relief, thanks clavia!
But I also found the first wish with the new mutator,
it would be very nice implementing midi control to the mutator...
Still exploring

there's still a lot of nice looking modules lurking beneath the surface (seen with a resource viewer). i hoped to see them in 1.4 but i imagine clavia were behind schedule enough and didn't want to delay the release any further. hopefully new modules, etc., will be the next order of business! |

The Patch Adjuster is very cool, IMHO. I'm very disappointed you can't assign the knobs to the G2's physical knobs. These knobs would be so fabulous to use in live performance. |

Thats true, and it is hard to understand why this could not be done??? _________________ Best,

my guess is that it is because the adjuster lives in the editor, not in the synth os. based on what we were told at em05, it seems to me that making the adjuster available via midi would require adding another property to the synth modules, _and_ it would have to live in the synth. perhaps there is a way in a future release to automatically assign morph groups to these parameters.

Basically as it is all editor fuctions, its not in the G2 hardware itself. Still, my guess is that the quick adjustments could actually be implemented in the hardware, as it is not necessarily related to the mutator functions.
The quick adjustments do have some peculiarities though, but these show themselves mainly on the somewhat more complex patches. For the straight and simple VCO/VCF/VCA stuff it seems to work fine though.
Now that the Nord Stage is out in the shops the Clavia developers might have some time this year to work on new modules and finally port some old ones from the NM1, like e.g. the filterbank. And clean up some tids and bits on current modules. Well, I hope there will be some more in the pipeline this year, though I really don't know about what Clavia's plans are. |

What a bummer. No significant new features other than the patch randomizer. Color me disappointed. |

I noticed the RndChaos, RndState, and RndDist(ribution?). They aren't marked "for internal debugging by clavia" like the Red2Blue and Blue2Red are. I wonder if they could be hand-instantiated in a .pch to force the editor or synth to use them. |

All my christmas's have come at once!
Not only is my E-mu 1820m with Cubase SL3 package arriving today, but the 1.4 OS is out!
Thank god for the high contrast colour scheme - sooo much easier on the eyes! And the z keyboard shortcut for last played note is a godsend when the midi keyboard is out of reach. Thanks Clavia! My G2 just got 100% more useful |

For the NM Classic there have been software versions with hidden modules. Those could pretty easily be put into a patch as the patch format is readable ASCII and module type numbers had to fit into 7 bits (not too much guessing needed). However the synth didn't know what to do with such modules - they were not known to the synth OS.
http://www.dewb.org/g2/pch2format.html#ModuleList is what is known for G2 patches. But that wil have changed a bit :-) _________________ Jan

Wow, and to those who are dissapointed that the only new feature is a "patch randomiser", try again. It is excellent, so much more than a randomiser. For a start you have alot of control over the end result, and you can edit the "children" while they're in temporary storage to be cross bred again. Even sequenced patches are cross bred intelligently. Really really cool. |

I suppose it was foolish of me to think the features were all just sitting there, but somehow forgotten or not brought to light in the editor. |
