The patch notes read :

Quote:
Euclidean rhythms

See articles:

http://ruinwesen.com/blog?id=216
http://www.hisschemoller.com/2011/euclidean-rhythms/

and paper :

http://cgm.cs.mcgill.ca/~godfried/publications/banff.pdf

Set an Euclidean rhythm with the module labeled X-1, and Y-1. To set E(5,7) set X-1to 4 and Y-1 to 6 - so always one less than the values in E(X,Y)

X should always be less than Y.

This patch uses the partial generators to to make a derived rate from a basic rate ., for E(X,Y) the derived rate is X / Y times the basic rate, this then samples the basic rate to make the rhythm.

I think I got the math right ... but it does some nice stuff anyway Wink

The idea started in the chatroom .. some earlier attempts were in http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-55545.html

This patch will run in the demo software.

An interesting variation can be made by inserting several X-1 modules set to different values that then get selected by a multiplexer module.

Nice and very compact! This can be useful.

This patch is great, not sure i totally get it but I love the way it uses the partial gens to get the ratios.

My question:

Do you have any ideas about how we might be able to get to work with synced clock signals.. so that it could be used in ideas driven by midi clock rather than an lfo?

I tried using my clock multiplier patch to get the lfo speed from the clock output using the pitch detection module but it wasn't very smooth..

Any other ideas?

Still its a great tool for getting rhythm into drone weird modular patches.. will definitely be using it.

I guess you could set the LFOs to [BPM] mode? I'm not sure there I hardly ever use MIDI sync, and am not sure how the modulation then works ... if it works you then might want to connect the resets to a clock module instead of the constant 64 they are tied to now .. the other signals connected to that 64 module should stay connected though. Or maybe even the clock multiplication rate, [CLK] mode that would be.

For some more info see here

Turns out that its related to Bresenham's line drawing algorithm, which makes an algorithmic implementation a lot easier for some programming languages (easier than in the original paper).

And maybe even a G2 implementation could be made out of that ...
