hello,

this is my attempt to recreate the tr-808 on the g2. atm i`ve finished the main drum sounds with controls and a stepsequenzer. still missing is the percussion section and especially the rimshot and cowbell. i am having some problems with creating the rimshot, does anyone have an idea how to?

If you like to, you`re invited to complete this patch with me...

thanks to sheridan for sharing his claps patch! Smile

edit: oops, sorry!! wrong attachment - have updated it yet!

Hey.

Not sure if you're interested, but I emulated some reasonable 808 cowbell and rimshot in variations 3 and 4 of the PercussionMachine patch found here: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-7037.html

If you want the exact sound, you're most welcome to use that as a starting point. Very Happy

the cowbell on the 808 uses 2 of the 6 cymbal oscilators..there is no lfo involved just the tuning difference of the 2 oscs is causing the vibrating fx...

both oscillators can be tuned inside the 808..therefore there all 808 have different cowbell sounds

Okay, here`s an update. This time with Rimshot and Cowbell. All that is missing now is Claves, Toms and congas, which i will do in another patch. Should work with an expanded Nord G2. Have fun! Cool

What can I say? FANTASTIC Very Happy
I can't believe you did it, impressive, Thanks.I've been trying to recreate the TR-606 707 & 808 for months ( Smile )

Here is my last attempt for the TR-808 snare.( see attach )

Q:I would like to know more about the TR-606 snare drum, do you have infos about HOW TO recreate it? I am working on it, but I am missing something with the noise part.( see wav & patch )...

YOUR TR-808 ROCKS!!!!!!! Twisted Evil

Very glad you like it - Thanks a lot for your warm words, gomidas!! Smile

Regarding the 707, i guess it´s a lot more difficult to recreate, because the original machine is based on samples, not oscillators.

BTW i like your 808 snare, sounds great with varying velocity

sorry i can´t help with tr-606. i built the tr-808 patch in comparison to a real tr-808 and i can´t compare with a 606, coz i don´t have one Very Happy

impressive sounds top notch!

only one thing im not able to playback "tr_606_sd_beta_126.pch2" and "tr_808_snare_301.pch2"

the note module is on D2 but the specified note wont trigger.

Do you have the G2 key or the engine?, is the patch key activated(red light slot)?

cheers

Hi,... i see something have happened here in the time in between...just downloaded the other patches.. And here my try to get it a bit furthe..just tryed to get every 808 sound inside the patch and expanding a bit on the sequencer..
I had to get rid of the fantastic sheridan clap for resource friendlyness and just patched the units like explained in the roland 808 service manual...

So still much room for optimisations ...
