This is another experimental monster patch which maxes out an entire expanded G2. It's sort of inspired by a chapter in the book "Analog Days" which is about the British synth manufacturer EMS. The company owner, Peter Zinovieff, was obsessed by the idea of realtime analysis and resynthesis (rather far out in those days), and spent considerable effort (and money IRRC) into designing a 64 bands analyzer/resynthesizer.

This patch analyzes incoming audio into 96 frequency bands via 96 resonant bandpass filters and 96 envelope followers (the classic vocoder method). The resulting amplitudes then drive a corresponding bank of 96 sine oscillators.

Instead of patching all this individually, the G2 polyphony feature is used as a macro, with each voice providing 4 bands. Since 3 voices fit on a DSP, this gives 96 bands (or 48 for unexpanded G2s).

Everything is tweakable.

ANALYSE BaseFrq: Base frequency of the analysis bandpass filter bank.
Spread: Spreading of the analysis bandpass filters, upwards from the base frequency.
Reso: Resonance of the analysis bandpass filters
EF-Att: Attack time of the analysis envelope follower
EF-Rel: Release time
RESYNTH BaseFrq: Base frequency of the resynthesis oscillator bank
Spread: Spreading of the resynthesis oscillators, upwards from the base frequency.

Plus input and output level control.

Yup. That's it. A one trick pony of the more experimental kind.

cheers,
t

thanks for this, Tim. another mind-blowing patch by you! Hail the Master

i've gotten some interesting results by patching the output signal to the fm mod inputs of the 4 oscillators and controlling this amount with a morph. this starts to sound really good with the resonance cranked all the way up.

unfortunately, when i connect more than two of these inputs, the voice count drops from 24 to 16 (on my expanded engine). i don't suppose there is some clever way around this? any advice appreciated.
