Thanks for the links. The first one has a nice minimal 555 timer that acts as a Mr. Microphone all by it's little self! Very cool. The second one shows how to calculate a 1/4 wave antenna length for FM dipole (not AM coil) and other similar frequency bands. The height of the driven element is the same distance as the radial length the ground wire array. Definitely two resources worth a look to anyone following this thread.

I had begun work on a simple circuit to act as an audio-oscilloscope. The attached photo, repeated from prior mention, shows the first rev of the device. The plan is to use a diffamp circuit followed by an LM386 speaker amplifier. It's a classic that I'd like to include in my toolbox of audio circuit dev toys. It allows us to hear any probed node or probed differential nodes as an audio stream on the speaker.

Also in mind is a simpler version using a discrete diffamp. It's a bit of a wander from the original chained oscillator topic, isn't it? We can get back to that later.

OK, so there has been plenty of meandering in this project thread. It started with an exploration of hardware sine wave oscillator networks, drifted into radio circuits using op-amps of all the crazy things, and now it's wandered into audio oscilloscopes (or did I mention that one). Kinda crazy but wait! There's more!

Wouldn't it be helpful to the electro-music community if I were to create a breadboarding developer's kit? I'm thinking of a set of links to relevant suppliers and em threads, maybe resurrect the Les Hall show on em radio and create a document that brings it all together. Also some videos including the one I put together on "The Neat Freak Technique" and such. Maybe events like the Lunetta Challenge can be described.

Huh, sounds like I'm thinking of writing a book...

Les

This thread has wandered and meandered and drifted from it's original goal. It's getting more interesting but it's off topic of itself! So to keep things from becoming overly confusing I've started a new thread on breadboarding a prototype design. You can follow the new project thread by clicking on the following link.

Yours in truth.
