As a G2 patching exercise, I have humbly attempted to model the MiniMoog. My goal was to emulate the front panel controls and unique features of the synth while minimizing compromises. MiniMoog vets should be able to tweak this patch from the G2 front panel with ease.

To break the dead perfect digital tuning of the oscillators and create a more analog sound, I have implemented a controllable keyboard tracking detune (KBT Dtn) for Osc 2 and Osc 3. Increasing the KBT Dtn value of the oscillator will result in the oscillator tuning deviating more from true pitch as lower notes are played on the keyboard. I recommend using this KBT Dtn for fine detuning of Osc 2 and Osc 3 in relation to Osc 1. Increasing the KBT Dtn value of Osc 2 will result in the pitch of this oscillator becoming more sharp as lower notes are played. Increasing the KBT Dtn value of Osc 3 will result in the pitch of this oscillator becoming more flat as lower notes are played. If this detune scheme is not desired, simply turn off the KBT Dtn and use the fine tuning of the oscillators as usual.

A Filter Overdrive (Saturate) module has been added before the Filter module. Adjust the Mix Amp level and Filter Overdrive settings for various filter distortion sounds.

The Filter Cutoff Frequency front panel adjustment is patched through a Cutoff Smoothing (Glide) module to reduce stepping while manually sweeping the filter.

Model Deviations:

The main oscillators for Osc 1 and Osc 2 have selectable waveforms similar to the MiniMoog, except for the unique triangalur-sawtooth wave (rats!). I have added TriSaw switches for Osc 1 and Osc 2 that will select this particular waveform which is generated by additional oscillators. When these switches are on, they will override the waveform selected on the main oscillators. Variation 7 of this patch uses the TriSaw waves.

I have added an LFO - my apologies to the MiniMoog purist, but this was just too easy! There is a toggle switch provided to select either the LFO or Osc 3 as a modulation source.

No separate A-440 tuning tone generator. The pitch of Osc 1 (without modulation or detuning) can be used as a tuning reference.

A very nice patch, IMHO. Well done, well documented, and the controls are nicely configured to the knobs.

Nice work on the detuning of the oscs and the overdrive of the filter too. Do you have a MiniMoog which you based this on?

Thanks Howard!

No, I do not have a MiniMoog. I did some research on the internet and also used a softsynth demo of a mini as a reference.
