The patch post concludes with a bundle of FX.

NOTE: All recordings are processed, because I feel that it allows you to hear the Andromeda in context. I used the Andromeda's built-in FX this time in most cases, except for the Doctor Who and Major Tom Sweep patch where I used a TC Electronics M300. Timeworks and Waves plugins were used to compress the sound and add EQ when I felt appropriate.

BONEY ALIEN

The key to this patch is the long ping-pong style delay built into the Andromeda, and a ribbon controller that affects one of the frequencies but not the second. Distortion pretty much rounds out the patch.

Sound sample: Play!

BRAIN ROBBERS

This is a standard resonant filter FX patch, attached to a nice ping-pong delay. This is programmed for a song in a punk band I'm in, called "Brain Robbers From Outer Space". Modulation again is the key. The ribbon controller *increases* the pitch *and* the LFO speed. The modulation wheel *lowers* the LFO speed.

Sound sample: Play!

DOCTOR WHO

A standard sine wave patch processed via reverb. This actually is a saw wave filtered very low and keytracked, *combined* with a resonant filter! The result is a pretty dense sine wave with lots of dimension. I use this in a couple of songs in the punk band I'm in called "Christopher Lee" and (what else?) "Exterminate".

Sound sample: Play!

MAJOR TOM SWEEP

Used in the 1980s band as the sweep sound for Peter Schilling's "Major Tom", the key here is a nice reverse pitch envelope. Hold the note and it slowly goes up in about the right time. Let go and it instantly goes to the note you are holding, because drummers are often not on time. Smile

Sound sample: Play!
