This started out as a rhythm experiment. I played the metronome sound from my Boss BR-600 through headphones. I stuck a microphone between the earpieces and routed the sound to the Microkorg vocoder.

I was going to loop one measure so I recorded a bit more, then pulled the mic away from the headphones, accidentally making that last "verp" sound. When I played it back the "verp" made me laugh, so I looped the whole thing.

Then I just played around with it, leaving the silent part alone for several tracks. I was just experimenting with sounds and not trying to play anything specific yet in the silent part. The goofy sound I used is a patch I found online called "duckbeetz." Thanks to whoever made this patch.

I did a whole track with random duckbeetz, just for fun, intending to do something different later. But every time I played it back it cracked me up, so I left it in. I hope it cracks you up, too.

"snoink" is a euphemism I invented and used regularly during my addiction to an AOL chatroom in the 90s. One day a visitor to the chatroom said, "oh 'snoink,' that's cute, I think I'll steal that." I told her not to but she did anyway. I have another word for her.
