I just bought the IC's(all 15 of them!!) for Ray's midi interface. I haven't started building it yet but I just stumbled onto this site http://www.uni-bonn.de/~uzs159/ and see what appears to be a much simpler circuit (only 1 IC!?!?) Anyone know anything about it Question ? Never yet tried to build any midi circuits yet so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would stick with Ray's circuit for two reasons:

1: it seems to be documented better.....i can understand what is going on a little bit better.

2: Every circuit i have built from rays site has been great (oscillators, minisynth, lfo, noise, lp filters, matrix scanning keyboard, sequencer, the list goes on...........)

I generly trust the musicfromouterspace site for this reason.

Not just 1 IC, it looks like a modular design so you are looking at one bit of the overall circuit. Hand matching those resistors to not going to be much fun as well.
