i'm new! (and looking for help) |
 |
|
I'm amy, I'm new, and I registered for electro-music as an act of self-interest (i'm looking for help - obnoxious, i know and i'm sorry in advance).
As a small-time lurker, I've picked this forum's brains and expertise more than a few times (mainly when i'm looking for recommendations for new music/artists). Now I'm trying to write an undergrad paper that compares social relations in different online communities and I need participants from music discussion forums to answer questions about their experiences in online communities.
The link to the survey can be found at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=vA34AikUFVsUtHJPPJ4Vqw_3d_3d.
I haven't had a huge amount of luck convincing members of various forums to click through my questionnaire (it isn't a huge surprise, but it sucks for my paper). So I'm really hoping some people here will take pity on me and take a few minutes to respond.
The research is being sponsored by the University of Toronto, is hosted by SurveyMonkey.com, and all data will be collected anonymously (no IP tracking). Once my final report has been submitted in April, all stored data will be deleted. The data collected will only be used by myself for my study and will not be passed on to a third party (commercial or otherwise).
Participation in the survey is voluntary, and participants are able to withdraw before hitting the final 'submit' button in the survey - once the survey has been submitted however, participants will be unable to remove their data.
If you have questions/concerns/abuse/etc, lay them on.
Thanks so much for your help,
Amy |

Welcome Aboard, Amy! I filled out your survey, it was just long enough to not be irritating. I get a lot out of this online community and have expressed my appreciation in various posts. I think you'll find that people are friendly and helpful here. Good luck with your research. _________________ "Let's make noise for peace." - Kijjaz |

There you go.
I actually appreciate the sense that someone else wants to know what I think. Maybe that's a common theme with online rleationships as well. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

I don't find your motivation for registering obnoxious; you are up front about it, and I think this kind of research is relevant. As with all surveys, some questions are unanswerable for some people - but I did my best
Good luck with your project!

Done, not bad. Let us know how the survey turns out. Good luck with your paper. _________________ When the stream is deep

yeah, as surveys go, that wasn't too painful or prying. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.
