About Midi clock Subject description: External midi clock to Midi out? |
 |
|
Hi.
My G2 receive an external clock from my Moog mp-201. I know that the clock is also send via midi thru, but is there a way to send the midi clock into the Midi OUT pin? I need this because i'm also sending other midi info from the G2.
Thanks you.
EDIT: seems to be impossible .
From the G2 manual : SEND CLOCK: Here you choose whether or not to send out MIDI Clock to the MIDI OUT jack of the synth. Sending out a MIDI Clock signal will only work when you use the internal Master Clock as clock source. |

No, it's not.
when you send the clock to the G2 from the moog, the bpm counter turns red, right? thats the internal master clock slaved to incoming, but as it's the internal master clock, if you click the box, it will send the clock to the out.
Try it! |

Heh, you're right Moody33. Red clock means no Midi clock on the G2 output. When I plug a clock-sending device to the IN, the G2 stops sending clock. When I unplug the other device the G2 starts sending clock again.
I actually think this explains a load of confusing problems I've had with MIDI sync from the G2 in the past! Thanks for highlighting this!

Yep Antimon, you're welcome.
I've found a solution to my problem. What I needed was to send the Moog's midi clock into my nord G1 from the Midi out of my G2 with some other midi controllers.
If you sync an LFO with the 1/64T value , the LFO send exactly 96 ticks per beat, then you just have to send this info via a Midi control send module. Since the G1 midi clock module only have 24 ticks per beat, my solution give a better resolution ! Now, I've to know if the midi flow will not be overloaded. |

what I do is merge the midi thru with the midi out (using a midi solutions midi merger - which, fyi needs the midi solutions power supply because the nords do not supply enough power over midi )
Then I want to transform/filter a midi message that goes into the g2 and then out with some changes, I make sure that the message being sent to the g2 is using a different midi channel than the target device - this way the midi thru will send the unaltered midi message (but the target will ignore it), and the midi out of the g2 will send the modified midi message on the right channel for my device.
works like a charm.
