Anyone using this? Is it as similar to a VSTi G2 as it looks?

I'd rather compare it to Reaktor than a 'G2 VSTi' (or G2 Rewire, because Bidule can host VST plugins but is not a plugin itself - if you want to use it alongside a soft sequencer you need to connect through Rewire).

Why Reaktor? Because it's more low level than the G2, e.g. there's only one most basic oscillator, if you need a pulse oscillator that does pwm you will have to build a group with several modules, decide on the number of inputs (e.g. keyboard, pw mod etc.), available parameters (pitch...). Roughly I would say that a G2 module is equivalent to a Bidule group (or a Reaktor macro). Bidule and Reaktor modules are one level deeper.

I have been using Bidule on and off, I used it recently for a workshop I gave on modular synthesis. For music production I think it's still too limited (don't forget they're still just testing version 0.7, a long way to go before the first commercial release). But it's a fun program, built by skillful programmers, AND it has dedicated FFT modules, something you won't find in Reaktor let alone the G2.
