Brainkiller Presents Music For The Jilted Generation Remixed Subject description: Celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Prodigy's second album
So a little context...
Some folks here may remember me. I've been featured on Bill aka State Machine's show The Soldering Musician, as well as performed at Electro-Music 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2015.
In case you didn't know, I've been a big fan of The Prodigy since 1993. And I've been a part of a few fan forums for The Prodigy over the years, such as Brainkiller and Nekosite and the official boards. This would be where I got my start and would share my music to fellow Prodigy fans. I joined Brainkiller back in late 2001/early 2002 and was able to build myself a little following. Liam Howlett of The Prodigy would secretly peruse the forum. And it eventually got big enough that BK got to interview Liam a couple times and management would send merch for the forum's competitions.
Back in 2003, the community decided to host their own music competitions where members could send in their original tracks and the community would vote on them. The first competition had around 70 entries. The 12 most voted tracks would go onto a compilation, which was called Music From The Jilted Generation in honor of The Prodigy's second album. My track was one of the 12 top voted tracks onto it. The competition and compilation got so popular that there ended being 5 volumes over 10 years.
Why am I telling you all of this? Well, 2023 was the 20th anniversary of that first compilation. And when I saw that 2024 was gonna be the 30th anniversary of The Prodigy's Music For The Jilted Generation, I thought this would be the perfect moment to bring everything full circle. So for the last 18 months, I secretly organized a remix album for Jilted featuring producers I've met over the years through community and music compilations. Thought it'd be a cool way to honor the album on its 30th anniversary as well as the Brainkiller community, which has since launched a Discord and YouTube page.
Since we dropped the remix album this past Saturday, it's been downloaded over 2,000 times on Bandcamp and over 7,000 views on YouTube.
