Metamono - 100% Analogue music Subject description: a new band with a strict manifesto to use analogue electronic instruments |
 |
|
I hope people here would be interested in my new project.
Metamono was formed by Kumo (CAN collaborator and electronic musician) Paul Conboy (Bomb The Bass, Corker Conboy) and fine artist Mark Hill.
The idea: to create analogue electronic music in strict adherence to a manifesto - a set of rules which on one hand would restrict our options but on the other would liberate our creativity and force us to engage in new methods. The manifesto was agreed upon before a single sound was made - instruments were built, modified, stolen, recycled and reconstructed.
We also decided to record to 1/4" tape and that our music would only be officially released in analogue formats. Our first release is on cassette.
We have recently had a show on Resonance FM.
Much of the modular synthesiser we use was built using circuits from YuSynth who also has a forum here.
Here are some links for more detailed info...
Our website is www.metamono.co.uk

Thanks

telstarmagikistferrari... you are correct that there is a digital sequencer AKAI MPC2000 used as is listed in the gear.
However the manifesto does state that all sound generation must be analogue and that remains true.
The MPC is less used as a multitrack and more like a step sequencer.
In honesty if we had more of them I would prefer to use analogue sequencers but we currently only have one simple one and besides, many of them (vintage included) involve a digital control circuit!
We are not strict purists here. Analogue music could also include use of multitrack and microphone but we choose not to use them because they offer too many options. Which is more the point of our manifesto.
I admit that to say 100% analogue may have confused but we are talking about the audio path here

hey man,
i really was just kidding around. i wish you and yours all the best with this project and it sounds awesome. you guys have some amazing equipment that i'm sure is going to be put to good use. Again, i was just goofing around, i hope you didn't take it the wrong way. Also, I think you'll find a supportive environment on EM for your efforts. Take it easy,

Hi Marck
thanks man. Sorry to get too serious there! I thought you might be one of THOSE people
Though it sounds a bit serious and all with the manifesto and stuff, we're just three mates who are a bit tired of the usual long winded ways of making music and are just trying to have a laugh really.
cheers for listening
