Hi!

I'm looking for articles about how wave shapers work. I'm not looking for a ready to build schematic, but some readings about how they work electronically.

Anything on this matter?

Regards,
Ruben

The ones I have developed are described fairly completely.

In addition to Ian's super duper wave shapers, electronotes is a good source for what you are after. The Builders Guide and Preferred Circuits Collection goes over the standard saw to tri to sine to pulse waveshapers in the VCO section, these are fairly easy to adapt to whatever VCO you might use with a little breadboarding. There are some other less common but very cool waveshapers in there as well.

Thanks Smile

Your waveshapers look great Ian! i'll check them carefully.

One of this days i'll have to buy the electronotes package, but i can't right now.

Hey Ruben,

Here are some other sites you might want to check out...

Jim Patchell's "Ideal Diode" page.
http://www.uni-bonn.de/~uzs159/diode_tutorial/index.html

Analog Devices "Nonlinear Circuits Handbook":
http://books.google.com/books/about/Nonlinear_circuits_handbook.html?id=tkMfAQAAIAAJ

http://www.filestube.com/fe037a65cc80f61e03ea,g/analog-devices-nonlinear-circuit-handbook.html

And a very interesting diode-based circuit from the ever clever Grant Richter (not really deep explanation, but might be good inspiration for a start into piecewise approximation circuits) :
http://www.musicsynthesizer.com/DIY/Grant/CVtwister2.html

And a (rather deep) paper on Piecewise Linear Circuits (upon which some Sine Shapers might be based):
http://www.kennethkuhn.com/students/ee431/piecewise_linear_circuits.pdf

And finally, a video!

I see that there are a number of used copies available for under $10. This is a really excellent text, with many examples and analyses you won't easily find elsewhere. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to get into serious analog design.

Very Happy
