One synth!! |
 |
|
Let's say I know someone that is in possession of every analog synth ever made, in multiple. No modulars, except for a a few 2600s.
He has agreed to let me borrow 2 or three.
I've never even dreamed that I would see these in one place in my lifetime. I'm completely overwhelmed, I can't decide.
I want to make somewhat noisy synthpop using a minimal amount of gear.
I especially like make percussive sounds.
What would you pick?
Top three?
I'm think a couple of mono synths and a poly of some sort.
I've always want to play with an MS-20 and a Pro-one. . .
Please help! My brain is going to explode!

This is what you want to play with first:
Octave Voyetra 8 + a decent compressor and an early Lexicon reverb ( or a modern clone ) + a modern decent PA thingie with lotsa guts
EMS VCS 3 / Synthi A / AKS + Roland Jazz Chorus 120 + Boss RE-20 + Small Stone phaser
Roland Jupiter 6 + a decent compressor + any PA with an attitude
Minimoog D + compressor + a decent vintage late 70s PA with a paperconed 15" . There should be some Acoustic sets around still?
KORG PS-3200 + Boss RE-20 + a Leslie ( or Leslie clone ) _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I think he only has one EMS Vcs3 so he probably won't let that leave, and I'm too sure about the semi modular Korg stuff. He does have a couple of Odyssey's though. That would be so fun!!
I would rather never carry a CS80 again. The last time I played one I had no idea what it was but my back still hurts!
I can't remember if I've ever played an Oberheim. Might be worth a shot.
The Crumar looks good too!
Anything particularly fun to run audio through?
Thanks, |

My choice, you decide |
 |
|
Memorymoog, Elka Synthex, ARP 2601 + 3620 Keyboard.
If he had a EMS AKS, that would be the most fun, as you can run almost anything Audio through it, even the other two I recommended.
All the best, lucky sod!!! |

lucky? I know! He's a friend of mine and real good friend of my neighbor. He has all this stuff that he collected back before I was born! Well, almost. It's just sitting around getting old and dusty as he does not have time to get to all of them and I think he just wants people to take care of them, make some art with them, and be able to collect them back at any time. I can sympathize. . . . . kinda. When I sold off all my gear a few years back (regret) I had just dove completely into the all computer thing and felt guilty for have all these synths that I was not using. I sold them cheap to people I thought were either cool or that I thought would really appreciate them.
I'm going for a hike and then going over this guys house.

This is wrong. Tell him to collect something useless instead if he's not going to use them. Pffff...
I'd shell out quite a bit to have one at home for a while. |
