Fritzing

Hello to all.

I love the free software Fritzing. It does ship with a lack of nicely usable op amps so I remade the following IC's:

TL074
TL072
LM13700

The main problem was in that you couldn't separate the individual subparts of the IC's so it made copying from schematics a real pain.
Now these can be moved around individually, rotated and flipped to suit your requirements.

This is good work, noodle.

I want to get into Fritzing as my main development tool for enthusiast / hobbyist work. I used to use Eagle which is a great tool, but I have a breadboard mindset and I like how Fritzing integrates breadboards with design and manufacture. Or at least I think so.

What do you know about this topic?

Long time no see! Good to hear from you, I hope you are well.

Fritzing is still my favourite layout tool.

It's very easy to create custom parts using a vector editor like Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator.

The breadboard view integrates very nicely with the other views in realtime.

Knowing you, I'm guessing you want to incorporate a mini breadboard into a 3D printed design. AFAIK This would require a custom part because the breadboards Fritzing ships with are for use only in the breadboard view
and so do not appear in the other views. I'm sure the very helpful guys on forum.fritzing.org would be able to help design the part for you if you needed something unusual like this.

I'd also be happy to help.

yes it is good to be back in touch with you. You're right I plan to combine 3D printing with breadboards (full size and possibly more than one). I've been making my own breadboards using the 3D printer and some patient clip harvesting.

I am just beginning to have a look at Fritzing after so many years away from it. The early days of frequent crashes are probably over or minimized now and I heard that the functionality has been greatly expanded.

I looked at the Fritzing web page this morning for a little while and I must say it's got a big thumb's up from me! I've been missing out on some very powerful stuff here. It's breadboard focused and that's a big theme of mine, plus it's Arduino focused which is another theme in recent years. Also it's all about making circuit boards easy along with a strong community in the forum. AND it's open source.

Did I miss anything? Probably so! Oh yes schematic capture and auto routing layout with custom library parts and a large set of library parts available and growing all the time.

Is it just me or is this tool simply amazing? Well, it's certainly a yummy morsel for some of us.

p.s. I'm thinking of starting some kind of e-m based open source kitting biz thing and basing it on Fritzing seems to make sense.
