Hello All,

After a ton of reading and listening to demos, I've changed my mind at the last minute and have decided to buy a used Nord Lead 3 instead of the 2x.

I'm a bit concerned about the lack of replacement DSP boards in case mine ever goes bad and have read some threads regarding voltage stability issues with the NL3. Is not using a voltage stabilizer something that can cause the DSP board to go bad? Is there anything I can do to ensure the longevity of the DSP board or will it simply burn out over time?

Thanks a bunch.

welcome parke02

Besides the DSP's are no longer available the weakest part of the NordLead3 is the power supply. At the moment Clavia is able to deliver new power boards, so an unstable one can be replaced.

In general I suggest not to switch on/off the unit to much. The power supply is always rather warm, so don't worry about that.

Keep in mind most Clavia units are still in use, some more than 16 years!
Okay, falling off a car on a highway and overridden by other cars... Sure, some broken keys and knobs, but still functional Very Happy

Hi Wout

Thanks for the advice! I don't know how practical it is for me to be able to leave the NL3 on as i keep my gear in my bedroom. I imagine it might be difficult to sleep with all those lights!

So I guess you're saying I shouldn't really worry about the DSP boards going bad then. Do you recommend that I get a voltage stabilizer if I'm unable to keep the unit on all the time?

I can't give any warranty the DSP won’t blow or something, but until now all units work…
The net instability could cause rebooting while in use. If this happens a voltage stabilizer could be a good buy, but try it out first without.

I always thought Frisco was a civilized area… Shocked
