This Saturday, April 4, 2015 - Independent Media Center, Urbana, IL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNfy68-KBqA
Build your own polyphonic analog synthesizer with a multi touch interface. No experience necessary, open to everyone. At 2pm makers, musicians, artists, and students will be guided through an introduction into circuitry and will be making music on their very own touch synthesizer a couple hours later. The instrument is a 60 note polyphonic analog synthesizer. The multi touch interface senses your fingers position on each key and how hard you are pressing for fun finger wiggling playing. Cost: $40. Thanks for your interest! Just to be clear, this is definitely NOT an April fools prank! Hahah. Come to the workshop and we can chat about how it works Smile
I haven't published a schematic yet, sorry. We tried really hard to keep the price low so that everyone had an opportunity to learn some skills and take home a fun instrument. As for the cost, it is sponsored by Texas Instruments and IEEE (big thank you!), and I'm donating my engineering & development time and teaching it for free - you're welcome Laughing If there is enough interest, I would love to find a way to allow more people to build this. I taught this workshop last year, and it was a big success and everyone got it working. Around 100 people last year, and quite a few signed up this year already, but there are some spots still open.

There's no way I will be able to attend the workshop and even if it would
be available as a kit I won't be able to afford it in the near future.
But it looks great and I'm very curious how it works.
oh and I forgot to say:

welcome party!

The Hyve Touch Synthesizer workshop was a huge success! Everyone had a wonderful time and got their synthesizer working to take home.

That looks really amazing -- I'd be interested in one, too.

Is it all SMD?
