Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying vultures in a uniformly negative way, let me use the word "opportunists," which really has no negative or positive spin. At least not as I use it.

I think that the dissolution of MP3.COM will most likely spawn a large number of alternatives who will all struggle to compete for artists, but again, one has to ponder how they would benefit from it. I've grown to be quite suspicious of "goodness of one's heart" scenarios.

I spent twenty minutes or so trying to register with them last week to no avail. Did get a quick response as to why though:

I've gotten their notice several times over the years.
Best I can tell, they give you a page, but you have to pay if you want to put any tunes on there.
