I don't care about F words and re. your Alesis writings, I think it's good to read about bad experiences as well.

I do however care about how people treat each other on this forum, and that's the sole issue I was addressing.

Laughing

Keep in mind that a support team is often seen as a nest of nonproductive asses way down the food chain - by their bosses that is. I really hope that isn´t the case here. However, obviously the marketing and sales department should have been made aware of this and then some sort of PR diversion should have been pulled off.

Where did you order this one? At some store which never really ordered the A6 themselves.. and now they think you are just about ripe for an upmarket Korg polkaboard?

Hey Sunny

Sorry if I offended you. I come from a very political country (we speak our minds). We are not as soft spoken as American's would lead you to believe. Ha!

My apologies brother.

That's actually the best news I've heard on this topic so far. (And I'm the guy who started this whole crazy thread!)

I think it's good news that Alesis bothered to seek out a new manufacturer for the chip. Most companies would drop a 7-year-old product that isn't their major breadwinner over a manufacturing hiccup like that.

It gives me confidence that the A6 may yet be around for a while. You don't spend money bringing another chip vendor on line unless you intend to make the money back by selling more units. ASIC NRE charges (non-recurring engineering charge) run in the tens of thousands of dollars.

I'll keep waiting; hopefully the October timeframe is correct. I've kept myself otherwise entertained in the meantime.

Thanks to analogstndrpusy for the update on the manufacturing issue. At least now I have a "why" instead of just a "not yet".

6 months for me and I gave up.

Mars is gaining support.

Oh I've had a wee gander at it, but only since laying out the deposit for the Andy. Like I said I want box fresh if I can get it.
When I ordered the synth I'd originally intended to have the cash at the end of November(about 10 weeks later I think). So I'm not too fussed about having to wait another 2 from now. If it becomes an ordeal I'll take the shelf unit no problem. Otherwise I'll just get the deposit back and go buy some modules for my modular Wink

6 months is a bit rough, but I fully expect it to be in when they told me as they're the only reliable seller of Andromeda's in Melbourne if not Australia

you're welcome my friend. sorry for my piece of bad humor on the beginning and end of my writing. seemed it distracted the attention to what i wrote furthermore: the company really doesn't bother you biting your teeth to pieces on this forum ! so guess if you really want to do something you'll have to visit them in person and talk it over over some fancy diner or so.
so simply watch you're health. ( and yes i agree it's not nice to let people wait so long , if that wasn't clear already)

Lousy support is one of the issues that actually is too typical when a normally consumer-level company takes on a higher-end project... no matter what field you are in. Not surprising.

That does surprise me (unless its grandstanding before an official discontinuation), but if production does continue in spite of sourcing problems it must mean that there is *some* demand for the Andromeda right now. It's damn surprising to see a Future Music reviewing the A6 in 2007, after all. (Though I guess product cycles for hardware synths are getting much longer than they used to be. The K2600 is out still, for instance; that was released shortly before the A6 was.)

Ha!
So... seriously is this a North America supply issue?
Every time I've been to the local they've had one on hand.
Still waiting for mine though.
I am a patient man, next week is when they said I'd likely have a box fresh!

Mars Wants Flesh....how about you post some Prophet 08 demos? I'm considering this board but the demos I've heard don't sound anywhere near as good as the Andromeda demos I've heard. Maybe recording some Prophet 08 demos with an outboard reverb unit would do the trick! Smile

Or maybe I need to listen to some andromeda demos without any effects to keep me patient. Very Happy

I found the opposite to be honest.
the only Andy demo that sounds half way decent is this

while these P8 demo's are rather polished sounding.
http://www.trippler.net/music/DSI-Evolver/Prophet08/prophet08.html
I know they're multi layered and none of these demo's are to my taste in music.

I am going to try out the P8 on Friday. My A6 was supposed to be in store this week... we'll see. They aren't selling the demo models either so I'll be stuck waiting a while longer.

Question is, should I choose sound or function?
I already have the beginnings of a modular...

I've heard all of tripplers demos and I preffer the Andy's sound. These are more or less the type of sounds I'd like to get out of her.

I had zero interest in a P08 originally but it's a pretty nice sounding synth (at least from those demos). I may pick one up in the future but I'm not about to sell my Andromeda for one.

I like the Andy sound, I liked sound of the Prophet 600 I had.
so far I like the demo's I've heard of it, though tipplers seems to be better engineered than most.

Most A6 demo's don't have much in the way of "mastering" the 2nd link you posted sounds nice though the sounds there are no where near the experience of the A6 and I think most synths VA and analogue could do a pretty good job at those.

I really like the sound of those Curtis chips...... I'd have bought a poly Evolver if it was 8 voice.

Have you listened to the demos on Bluesynths.com, or the ones
on the German Alesis site www.alesis.de? I thought both of those
were pretty good.

Latest I've heard now is October 31 for delivery.

I decided to go for the P8.
I spent 2 hours with it today.

Damn fine bit of kit.
the filter sounds nice and the presets have one that apparently has a tricky way to pretend to be a band pass filter.

I set about programming it right away, and its as easy as you could want. One knob per function almost, except for a couple that control sub menu's

the DCO's are great, the slop function works really really well.

comparing tot he memory of my old Prophet 600 I am thinking this one sounds way better.

After coveting the P5 for ages but not wanting to pay too much for a 30 year old device I think that perhaps this one is the next best thing.

Now I do rather like the A6 too, but I've got a small(and ever expanding) modular that I've built for all the infinite routings I could want.

now back on topic, the sales fella said that the P8 would probably arrive way before the A6 and I have to wait a further 2 weeks.

damn microkorg is sounding like a bee's fart in comparison!

noticed that in the recent and last (1/2 years and received today) catalogues of the big "music store in germany" the a6 wasn't mentioned anymore. on the website it stands:on order
? is it still newly available or has the would be story at last ended ?
if a good secondhands for a fair price would arrive , i would also maybe consider it. or otherwise the polyevolver+expension ??
anybody..

I cant understand what has happened I ordered my A6 and got it in a month, I played the P08 today for the third time as well as the SE CODE and must say the P08 is cool, but I feel the A6 is way more powerful.

The CODE as much as I wanted one is just OK for me, I think I am SEMed out, I hav a MKS 80 vers 4 which is huge fat and dirty

Man, that stinks. The last I heard was still "Sometime in October".

I did some checking of a couple online retailers. One is still showing a delivery date of Nov 8, another is showing Dec 18. The rest just say "on backorder".

I was hoping to get to play with mine some this winter. I'm thinking about getting a SLMS (www.musicfromouterspace.com) to tide me over, in case the A6 doesn't show up until some time next year.

And I'm starting to consider going and playing a PEK and a P08 just to
see how they sound in person. I haven't given up yet, but it's been six months since I placed my order.

The local dealer I ordered it thru said that last year they had that problem getting IONs --- They had a customer who ordered an ION and it took almost exactly one year to ship.

don't understand why numark don't react to the rumours and just clears the air a bit by saying what's going on or presumably going to happen.
this way it gives a rather amateuristic impression, to mho
? is this arrogance or incompetence, after all we talk about Customers who are willing to spent a lot of money now and maybe also in futher.
( maybe i'm too oldfashioned in my views ??)

Because Numark doesn't care about anything outside of their core business (DJ equipment). Synths are an annoyance that they got stuck with...in my opinion...
