Mac Pro and MOTU MIDI Time Piece Subject description: Unable to upload patches |
 |

First off, I'm thrilled to find this group developing a viable editor. I know that the version I have is pre-release (when is the release?), but with my MIDI time Piece network, I am unable to upload the current parch from my Modular to my Mac. This is what appears in the console log:
java.lang.IllegalThreadStateException
Mandolane Midi Transmitter open () reports exception associated with device Port 16 <MIn>
java.lang.IllegalThreadStateException
Communication timed out. [ERROR:-252665712]
net.sf.nmedit.jnmprotocol.MidiException: Communication timed out.

Any advice is welcome! Can't wait to get a fully functional version for Intel Macs on OS 10.4.x Also, I have done a fair bit of coding on the Mac, so if I can be of any help to the group....
Thanks/Rob |

Rob, I'm sure Christian will come in to answer your questions, especially when he sees the help offered
Did you try with another MIDI interface? There are some issues with multi MIDI I/O cards. _________________ Jan
also .. could someone please turn down the thermostat a bit.

Hi, and thanks for the welcome. I suppose that the issue is that my recording studio is based around a MOTU network of MIDI Time pieces, and its not really possible to run the studio on a single I/O. I read that there were issues with some multi-port interfaces, and perhaps Christian already has the bug fixes in place. Either way, it is a big stumbling block to a successful release, and I'll certainly be glad to beta test the crap out of it!. It sure is cool to see this project bubble up, though. A lot of talent has gone into making this happen. Can't wait to get the straight goods from Christian!

Hi Rob,
sorry for the late reply. I believe the exception you reported is caused in the Mandalone Library, the com. time out then is probably just an aftereffect.
You mention you are using Nomad on the Intel Mac platform. If so then only the Mandalone shareware version, not the free version works for you. You can try mmj ( http://www.humatic.de/htools/mmj.htm ) which promises to work on Intel Mac. However, when one of our developers tried it, it seemed buggy and unusable.
The situation on the Mac is not very good regarding Java Midi drivers. We have not decided how to deal with this problem, but we are discussing to develop a working driver for the Mac (including Intel Mac) platform ourselves.
Regarding the next release of Nomad, you have to wait until about christmas. ( I know we can do it )
Regards

Hi
We're trying to make Mandolane the best possible solution for Java Midi on Macs. If you're having any problems using Mandolane then we really want to know about it - even if you haven't bought the registered version.
If this problem is still an issue for you please can you contact us using the Contact page on the mandolane web site: http://www.mandolane.co.uk/contact.html
Be sure to give us your correct email address so we can get back to you.
Best wishes
