Unfortunately, Microsoft has made a bonehead decision to have Vista 64 block the installation of unsigned drivers. The proper policy would be to allow the installation of unsigned drivers as approved by the user on a one-by-one basis.

Fortunately, users can disable signed driver checking when Vista 64 is booted by pressing the F8 key. You will be presented with a screen where you can select (don't remember the exact words) Disable Signed Driver Checking. Select that and the machine will boot. You can then install your driver.

Every time you reboot, you must do this F8 thing if you want to use the unsigned driver.

I've found a little program that automates this process. If you install ReadyDriver Plus v1.1, it will do the F8 thing automatically every time you boot.

Thanks for posting that info. Mosc! Shall hit the site and keep that in mind, in case I ever bring this pig down to the studio. Smile
Currently planning though on resurrecting my 2700+, for studio use only. (XP Pro Sec. Ed.)
