Gustavo Jobim: Retrospect 00/12
Free download: www.gustavojobim.com/retro
Introduction by Artemi Pugachov (Encyclopedia of Electronic Music):
"Gustavo Jobim is one of the most interesting modern Brazilian composers and one of the most intriguing figures on the Electronic Music scene. His work has always been daring and yet very listenable, experimental but never alienating.
"Retrospect 00/12" gathers pieces in various styles that Gustavo has been working with over the years, selected from six albums. It also includes a new track, to be released in a future album. Starting with the sequencer stomp of "Ascension" and ending with the even more frenetic "Echoes of Berlin", as if closing the circle, the collection gives a good idea of the musician's oeuvre and leaves no doubt about the quality of his productions. Why not sit back and take this fascinating journey through Gustavo Jobim's music right now?"
Notes by Gustavo Jobim:
«Retrospect 00/12" is the tip of the iceberg that are my first thirteen years of musical creations, from 2000 to 2012. Represented here are the many varied aspects of my music, in a compact package. All pieces here are instrumental, featuring sequencers, piano, Mellotron sounds, computer synthesizers and sound sculptures.
Since 2011, with «Trapped in a Day Job», I began unveiling many unpublished and withdrawn recordings. I was able to release a new album every few months, including archive material and contemporary works. So «Retrospect 00/12" is also an opportunity for the listeners to catch up with those many recent releases.
This is, in fact, part of a full discographic revision. This process is still ongoing and will end very soon, with the release of «Manifesto», the last of my unpublished albums. «Manifesto» took nearly 10 years to be finished and is my most important work so far.
This album includes a new track, the still unheard «The Disquieting Muses», «Manifesto»'s prelude piece. |
