Hello,

A few months ago, i destroyed my EchoRockit through a broken wallwart, wich was giving out 20V instead of 9V Sad
Anyway, i was finally coming around to fix it. I checked what chip could be broken, and since all the others have a quite high tolerance for Voltage, i thought its probably the PT2399. I also replaced two elkos, wich didnt have a high voltage tolerance (all the others were like 60V, so i thought they are probably still fine). Its still not working. When i turn it on, there is Sound for a split second, and then nothing. The Batterys are always practically empty after the few seconds they are in the machine (Though just when i turn it on).

So there is some kind of short circuit, though when there is no voltage and i check the connections, there is more than 1k of resistance between + and -, not really what i call a short circuit. So there must be a short circuit, wich is just there when the thing is actually running and there is current. How can this happen? In wich chip or part could be the error? What ways are there to find the part?

Thank you!

That is a lot of current to flow .. maybe you can find the defect part by checking where things get hot. When you can not feel it, using cold spray may help (frost it up with the cold spray and see where it evaporates quickest).
