Subject description: The 960 plus additional features

Hi folks,

after two years I continued with my T960 sequencer clone project, a clone of the famous Moog 960 Sequential Controller.

As this is for my System 55 clone project, it had to be at least a kind of 960 clone. But looking at the original circuit diagrams I decided to reimplement the whole logic in a microcontroller based design. The 960 does not affect any sound creation or sound processing, just contains control functions and logic, so I decided to clone just the functions, not the interior.

And using a microcontroller design offered a whole bunch of additional features, which the original can't deal with, as row selection without the need of a sequential switch, MIDI capabilities and one of my personal favorites, the wonderful ratchet effect.

Features

All functions of the 960, see Moog documentation
+ 16 x 1 steps without any additional modules e. g. sequential switch
+ 24 x 1 steps without any additional modules e. g. sequential switch
+ V-Trigger out for usage in non-Moog systems
+ MIDI capabilities for synchronisation with external MIDI streams and for creating own MIDI sequences
+ Ratchet functions without any additional modules

Youtube Demos
Demo 1: Ratcheting
Demo 2: 16 Step and 24 Step mode
Demo 3: MIDI Sync

If anybody is interested in building it, just send me an email.

Carsten, amazing as always! I quietly dread programming these days (used to dabble in it a long time ago), but I admire other people's work Smile

You didn't include the Column gate outputs for each step?

Thanks Smile

There is a column trigger output, which means that the oscillator output, which is created by the micro controller for synch purposes is transported to the channel related trigger output. That means during the time a channel is selected half the time the channel trigger is high and half the time it is low. So it is indeed a voltage trigger, but not a gate.
